EL RENO — A large number of Ada Junior High scholars placed in the top 25 of their respective divisions at the Oklahoma Tournament of Champions April 18 at Redlands Community College.
The competition was a scholastic meet for those students who had previously placed in another meet. There are about 40,000 students per grade in the state. Therefore, to place in the top 25 is quite significant, coach June Murphy said, adding that AJH had the greatest number of different students in the competition.
Those students and their placings are as follows: eighth grade - Math: Stephen Gammill, fourth, John Luke Garber, 10th, T.J. Freeman 23rd; eighth grade Humanities: John Morgan, seventh, Alexandra Smith, 10th; eighth grade Language Arts: John Morgan, eighth; seventh grade Current Events: Jake Boone, fifth, Camron Large, 15th; seventh grade Language Arts: Zac Whelchel, 13th; seventh grade Math: Coleman Dennis, seventh; seventh grade Humanities: Jacie Sellars 11th, Aubrey Halford 16th.
Four Willard Grade Center sixth graders also placed. They were Science: Sage Love, seventh; Social Studies: Love, 10th; Current Events: Claire Mayer, 18th; Humanities: Gary Brooks, 12th; Avery Stevens, 17th.
