WEDNESDAY

JULY 1, 2009

• Old Bank Gallery, 101 W. Main, hosts an exhibit of the work of photographer Blair Waltman and pottery of Dr. Don Davies. Their work will be on display at the gallery through July 4 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

• A blood drive to benefit Mike Holloway is noon until 6 p.m. at 210 Gym located at the corner of 9th and Broadway streets in Ada.

• A dance is held every Wednesday at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.

• Pontotoc National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) will not meet in July. Monthly meetings will resume Aug. 6.



THURSDAY

JULY 2, 2009

• Ada Public Library will host The Pocket Lady Susan Sykes at 10:30 a.m. Sykes brings her pockets full of stories for poetry and puppet fun. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, phone 436-8124.

• TEA Party protest event takes place from noon until 1 p.m. on the Pontotoc County Court House lawn.

• An Indian taco sale takes place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 4:30-7 p.m. at H20 Church located at the corner of Main and Broadway in Ada. Cost is $5 for taco, dessert and drink. Pickup orders only. All proceeds go to Mike Holloway and family to help with expenses, including medical, hotel and fees, while he is hospitalized for three weeks.

• Ada Chickasaw Senior Citizens hosts an Indian taco sale from 4-7 p.m. at Chickasaw Senior Site, 1005 Chamber Loop. Pie auction begins at 5:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Red Barn Band. Cost is $6 for taco, drink and dessert. For delivery of two or more in the city limits, phone 436-1007.

• South Central Oklahoma Lupus Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Main Street Church of Christ, 408 East Main Street, in Davis. Support groups are open to people with lupus (or people who think they might have lupus), family members, and friends. • The local Alcoholics Anonymous group meets Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Rd. For more information, phone Daniel G. at (580) 332-3503.

• Ada Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1202 meets at 6 p.m. at Stratford American Legion building.

• The public is invited to enjoy Wintersmith Park Fourth of July fireworks display Saturday from the grounds of First Lutheran Church, 18th and Stadium Drive. Refreshments will be provided at a nominal charge by First Lutheran Church youth group. Parking is free.



SUNDAY,

JULY 5, 2009

• Al-Anon meets Sundays at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ at 820 Stadium Drive in Ada.

MONDAY

JULY 6, 2009

• Ada City Council meets the first and third Monday each month at 5:45 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall unless the day falls on a holiday. Meetings are also televised live on cable Channel 11.
