• The local Alcoholics Anonymous group meets Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Rd. For more information, phone Daniel G. at (580) 332-3503.

• Pontotoc National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) meets at 7 p.m. in Valley View Regional Hospital conference room next to the cafeteria. Pontotoc NAMI is a support group and anyone with an interest in mental health issues may attend. • South Central Oklahoma Lupus Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at Main Street Church of Christ, 408 E. Main Street in Davis. John Key from Griffin Funeral Home of Ardmore will speak on a variety of topics related to pre-arranging funerals, trust and pricing. The group will also have a booth at Murray County Health Fair Oct. 17 at the Expo Center.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.

• Al-Anon meets Fridays at 8 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 17th Street and Broadway in Ada.

• Stratford Chamber of Commerce hosts a city-wide garage sale.

• Stonewall’s monthly gospel singing for Oct. 3 will be suspended in consideration for the Volunteer Fire Department’s community fund-raiser at the Family Park that same evening.

• Baptist Village of Ada will host an Art Show Oct. 3-15 featuring Magic Brush Art Guild. For information, contact Bob Abbott at 310-0508.  Baptist Village is located at 3501 Oakridge Drive, across the street from Kerr Research Center.

• Petsense, 1500 Hoppe Blvd., will partner with local animal shelters and rescue organizations to find homes for homeless pets during ‘Nome Now’ Adopt-A-Thon 2009.

• Stratford Chamber of Commerce hosts a city-wide garage sale.

• Latta Partners in Excellence Foundation hosts its 18th annual golf tournament at Lakewood Golf Course in Ada. The event begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Entry fee is $35 for adults and $15 for students. Proceeds from the tournament are used to provide scholarships for Latta students. • Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders support group meets at 1:30 p.m. in the Social Services Center auditorium, 1630 E. Beverly. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, phone Sidney Pepper at 332-0832.

• Fittstown Fire Department hosts a fish fry beginning at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds go to the Fittstown Fire Department.

• Ada American Legion Post 72 sponsors Bingo Saturday nights at 6 and 7:30 p.m. The Post hall is located at 3529 N. Broadway, Ada. Refreshments are available. Proceeds finance veterans and their families, scholarships and Boys and Girls State.
