WEDNESDAY

OCT. 8, 2008

◊ Valley View Auxiliary will hold a book fair fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the ground floor hallway by the elevators. All proceeds will be used to benefit the patients of Valley View Regional Hospital.

◊ A dance is held every Wednesday at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.

THURSDAY

OCT. 9, 2008

◊ Bank Day for March of Dimes Walk for Babies is Thursday at Arvest Bank inthe Arlington Center. All money raised for this eventneeds to be turned in from 4-6 p.m. For more information, phone Linda West at 580-320-3222.

◊ A blood drive will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the downstairs classrooms at Valley View Regional Hospital, 430 N. Monte Vista.

◊ The Chickasaw Nation Get Fresh! program will have a class at 10 a.m. and noon at Ada Nutrition Services at 518 E. Arlington. For more information, phone (580) 272-5506.

◊ Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) Board will hold its monthly meeting at Chickasaw Nation, 520 E. Arlington at 1 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and anyone who is interested in the state’s SoonerCare (Medicaid) program is welcome to attend. ◊ Ada Chickasaw Senior Citizens will host an Indian taco sale 5 to 7 p.m. at Senior site at 1005 Chamber Loop. Cost of taco, desert and drink is $6. For delivery of two or more in city limits, phone 580-436-1007.

FRIDAY

◊ A blood drive will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the conference room of the Carl Albert Indian Health Facility, 1001 N. Country Club.

◊ Blood drives will be held 9 a.m. to noon in a bloodmobile outside Ada Retirement and Care Center, 931 N Country Club; and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ballard Nursing Center, 201 W Fifth.

◊ The Pontotoc County Retired Educators’ Association will meet 11:00 a.m. at Ada Elks Lodge. Dr. Bill Chapman will speak on the upcoming ECU Centennial celebration.

◊ Ada High Cheerleaders will sponsor a clinic for children in Pre-K thru 6th grades from 4:00-6:00 pm, at Ada High School. Pizza and a drink will be provided during the clinic. All participants will perform that night at the Ada/Tulsa Central game. The cost is $25.00, which includes a free t-shirt. If two or more siblings attend, the cost will be $20.00 per child. OCT. 11, 2008

◊ March of Dimes Walk for Babies is 9 a.m. at East Central Oklahoma Blood Institute, 1930 Stonecipher Blvd. Music, games and free hot dogs will be available. The event is free and open to the public.

◊ Fifteenth Annual Dizzy Dean Day in Spaulding. Pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. with music entertainment throughout day. Tractor Demonstrations all day and Parade at 12:30. For more information, phone 405-379-5696 or 405-379-2887.

◊ American Legion Bingo every Saturday from 6-10 p.m. at the American Legion Building on North Broadway (next to the Pepsi plant). The event is open to the entire family. Snack bar available. Proceeds go to fund American Legion projects. For more information, phone 559-2732.

◊Gerty Bingo starts at 7 p.m. Concession starts at 6 p.m. Nachos, drinks and Frito pie will be available. Proceeds go towards Halloween party.

◊ The Oct. 13 regularly scheduled meeting of Ada Water Resources Board has been postponed until Dec. 8 at 8 a.m. in Ada City Hall West Annex.

◊ Fall storytime for preschoolers (age 3-5 years) meets at 1:30 p.m. at Ada Public Library.

◊ Stonewall Public Schools will have a planning meeting for the school’s Indian Education (Title VII) and JOM at 6:30 p.m. in the Stonewall Elementary Computer Lab. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the parent/teacher conferences. For more information, phone Gail Wood at 580-777-4777.
