• Yancy Spivey, former business owner and president of Arvest Bank, will be teaching a financial workshop on learning how to make a business grow through financial savy Oct. 20 and 22 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Pontotoc Technology Center. For more information, phone Stacey Golightly 580-310-2253.

• Ada Community Special Olympics team is organizing for participating in Special Olympics events. A meeting to develop this team will be at 3:15 p.m. at Ada Public Library’s second floor music room. The team is open to anyone who ever wanted to be a Special Olympic athlete or was a Special Olympian during his or her school years but does not have a team with which to practice. This team will be for post high school-age individuals with intellectual disabilities who would like to participate in Special Olympics events. • The Prime Timers’ monthly meeting will be held at JD’s Café. The program will be presented by Willard and Martha Rhynes regarding their recent trip to Panama. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 6. Visitors are welcome.

• Byng High School FCCLA will host a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Byng High School. Donors will receive their choice of a free University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University blood donor T-shirt.

• Chickasaw Nation Get Fresh! Program class is 6 p.m. at Ada Family Life/Wellness Center, 229 W. Seabrook. The cooking shows are free and open to the public. For more information, phone 580-272-5506.

• Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Craddock Road. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 332-6506.

• ECU theatre presents “Book of Days” by Lanford Wilson, directed by Dr. Richard Groetzinger, Oct. 22 – 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. in the Chalmers Herman Theatre, in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at East Central University. Tickets are $5 for adults; $4 for senior citizens and students; free for ECU students, faculty and staff with ID. Reservations are suggested. This play is intended for mature audiences.
