MONDAY

OCT. 26, 2009

• Salvation Army Christmas applications and coat distribution will be at the Salvation Army, 115 N. Oak St. in Ada through Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. Families are asked to bring photo identification, proof of income and expenses, social security cards for everyone in the household, and clothing sizes for children ages 0-12 years.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.



TUESDAY

OCT. 27, 2009

• Valley View Regional Hospital will provide free clinical breast exams from 6 to 8 p.m. at its Cancer Treatment Center on the south side of the facility. To make an appointment, phone the hospital’s education department at 580-421-1467.

• An Ada TEA Party Committee Meeting is planned at Ada Chamber of Commerce on Main Street in its Community Meeting Room at 6:30-8 p.m. For more information, phone Catherine White, Ada TEA Party Coordinator at 405-941-3381.

• Preschool storytime for children ages 3 to 5 years will be held Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. at Ada Public Library.

• The Combat Infantrymen’s Association (CIA) is now recruiting for new members. Membership into this elite group of men is open to Army infantry veterans who have served in a foreign war and earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. The CIA meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 730 E. Main in Ada at 6 p.m. For More information on meetings or membership, phone J.L. Rhodes at 332-8811 or Jack Jones at 310-6173.

• Ada Friends of the Library hosts its annual book sale from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m at the Ada Public Library. For more information, phone 580-436-8121.

• CIRCAW and the CIRCAW Peer Educators are hosting a Speak Out program and Candlelight Vigil, “Breaking the Silence to End the Violence” from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. on The Mall between the University Center and Memorial Student Union. This event is to honor victims and survivors of Domestic Violence. Alternate plans have been arranged in case of rain. • Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival, an evening of Russian Dance and Song, is 7:30 p.m. at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center, East Central University campus. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, ECU students and children under 12. Advance tickets may be purchased at the information desk in the University Center or by contacting Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya at 580-559-5293. Tickets will also be available for purchase the night of the show at the ticket booth in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

• Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Craddock Road. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 332-6506.

• A dance is held every Wednesday at Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.
