The Combat Infantrymen’s Association (CIA) is now recruiting for new members. Membership into this elite group of men is open to Army infantry veterans who have served in a foreign war and earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. CIRCAW and the CIRCAW Peer Educators are hosting a Speak Out program and Candlelight Vigil, “Breaking the Silence to End the Violence” from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. on The Mall between the University Center and Memorial Student Union. This event is to honor victims and survivors of Domestic Violence. Alternate plans have been arranged in case of rain. Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival, an evening of Russian Dance and Song, is 7:30 p.m. at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center, East Central University campus. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, ECU students and children under 12. Bill Bridgwater, ECU’s 2009 Distinguished Alumnus, will present “Alzheimer’s: A Patient’s Perspective” at 4:30 p.m. in the Estep Multimedia Center in the University Center. Bridgwater graduated from ECU in 1978 and had a 25-year career in the global information technology market sector before being diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease at age 48.
Vanoss High School will host a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 :30 p.m. at Vanoss High School. Donors will receive their choice of a free University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University blood donor T-shirt.
