TUESDAY

NOV. 3, 2009

• Allen High School will be hosting a blood drive in the Allen High School gym lobby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All donors will receive their choice of a free blood donor T-shirt.

• Preschool storytime for children ages 3 to 5 years will be held Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. at Ada Public Library.

• A spaghetti dinner, silent auction and country store will be held at the Family Life Center, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada, from 5-8 p.m. Dinner tickets are $5 and kids 10 and under eat free. Proceeds benefit Compassion Outreach Center.

• TRACES “Held in the Homeland” exhibit that brings midwest World War II history to life will be in the Ada Public Library parking lot, 124 S. Rennie Street, from 3-6 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

NOV. 4, 2009

• Reggie Whitten will return to East Central University's Estep Multimedia Center on the university campus to speak about his son's drug addiction and death. A panel discussion will follow with representatives from the Oklahoma Legislature, Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and various law enforcement and substance abuse agencies.

• Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Craddock Road. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 332-6506.

• A dance is held every Wednesday at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.

THURSDAY

NOV. 5, 2009

• Meetings of Fortnightly study Club will be Thursday. Anyone interested in learning more about Modern Book, Music, Progressive Drama or Twenty-First Century Departments may phone Anita at 580-436-2202.

• Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be at Ada Public Library from 4 - 6 p.m. to discuss the State Long Range Transportation Plan and to hear ideas and comments from area residents. For more about ODOT’s plan, visit www.oklongrangeplan.com.

• Ada Chickasaw Senior Citizens hosts an Indian taco sale from 4-7 p.m. at the senior center, 1005 Chamber Loop. Dr. John Garber will auction pies and cakes at 5:30 p.m. The Red Barn Band will entertain. Cost for taco, dessert and drink is $6. For delivery of two or more orders, phone 436-1007.

• The local Alcoholics Anonymous group meets Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Rd. For more information, phone Daniel G. at (580) 332-3503.

• Pontotoc National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) meets at 7 p.m. in Valley View Regional Hospital conference room next to the cafeteria. The agenda includes preparations for Christmas and a discussion of NAMI Walk 2010. Ponotoc NAMI is a support group and open to anyone with an interest in mental health issues. • South Central Oklahoma Lupus Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at Main Street Church of Christ, 408 East Main Street, Davis.  Support groups are open to people with lupus (or people who think they might have lupus), family members, and friends.
