THURSDAY

NOV. 12, 2009

• Multiple Sclerosis Support Group monthly meeting is at 6 p.m. Meeting will be at Ada Reed Activity Center at 207 W. Cottage St., Ada. All persons with MS, their caregivers, families, friends, or anyone interested in knowing more about MS are welcome to attend. A meal will be provided. • Singing Rineharts will entertain residents of Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Allen with gospel and country music at 6:30 p.m.

• Gospel and country music singers Thurman Rinehart, Leon and Deana Barnett, Gene Williams, Robert Turner and Don Brooks will perform for residents of Ballard Nursing Home in Ada at 2:30 p.m.

• A Tail Waggin’ Storytime (ages 3 and up) will be at Ada Public Library at 4 p.m. Beau, a trained therapy dog, will be there to share some tricks. Stories, songs, a movie and a craft will also take place.

• The local Alcoholics Anonymous group meets Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Rd. For more information, phone Daniel G. at (580) 332-3503.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.

• Roff Public Schools meeting scheduled for Nov. 9 has been rescheduled for Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the administration building board room.

NOV. 13, 2009

• Celebrate Recovery meets each Friday at Grace Community Church in Konawa on SH 99. The program is for anyone with hurts, habits or hangups. From 6-7 p.m., a meal is served for $3; group from 7 to 9 p.m. is free. For more information, phone 580-272-3320 or 925-3545.

• Carter County Arts and Crafts Festival and Food Fair takes place at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore. Festival hours are from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday.

• Al-Anon meets Fridays at 8 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 17th Street and Broadway in Ada.

• Union Valley Volunteer Fire Department chili supper fundraiser will be from 4:30-7 p.m. at the fire station. Donations will be accepted. Meal includes chili, Fritos, drinks and desserts..

NOV. 15, 2009

• Al-Anon meets Sundays at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ at 820 Stadium Drive in Ada.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.

• Ada Senior Care Center, a non-profit community service agency to help prevent or delay nursing home placement, is open weekdays at the back of First Presbyterian Church on Kings Road. The center is now accepting clients. For more information, phone Donna at 332-2855.

• A Christmas Tour of Homes is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 7, from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Ada Area Chamber of Commerce or by calling East Central University at 559-5873. Tour ticket prices are $10 for the tour only and $15 for the tour with transportation provided. Refreshments will be served at Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center throughout the evening. Proceeds benefit the children of Ada through Project Invest — a program of ECU’s Child Care Resource & Referral Agency and Smart Start South Central.



MONDAY

NOV. 16, 2009

• Ada City Council meets the first and third Monday each month at 5:45 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall unless the day falls on a holiday. Meetings are also televised live on cable channel 11.

• Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma Journey stories reading and discussion series , takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Ada Public Library, 124 S. Rennie Street.

NOV. 17, 2009

• Valley View Regional Hospital and the Chickasaw Nation Healthcare System will host a community Diabetes Support Group meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Chickasaw Family Life/Wellness Center, 229 W. Seabrook. The topic is “Empowering a Person with Diabetes by Achieving a Healthy Lifestyle,” complete with a presentation by the Wellness Staff and the Get Fresh Program. WEDNESDAY

NOV. 18, 2009

• Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Cradduck Road. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 332-6506.

• Attention Teens and Tweens: Game On at The Library will be held from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. upstairs at Ada Public Library. Activities will include video games such as Wii Games, Guitar Hero and more.

• The Singing Rineharts will entertain the residents of Woodland HIlls Nursing Home in Allen with gospel and country music at 6:30 p.m.
