TUESDAY

NOV. 24, 2009

• The CIA meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 730 E. Main in Ada at 6 p.m. At this meeting, the group will be giving away a $500 Walmart gift card. The Combat Infantrymen’s Association (CIA) is now recruiting for new members. Membership into this elite group of men is open to Army infantry veterans who have served in a foreign war and earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. WEDNESDAY

NOV. 25, 2009

• Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Cradduck Road. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 332-6506.

• A dance is held every Wednesday at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.

• Oklahoma Corporation Commission offices, including Ada’s Oil and Gas Division district office, will be closed and employees placed on unpaid furlough because of funding cuts.



THURSDAY

NOV. 26, 2009

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

• All non-emergency City of Ada offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 26-27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The landfill will be closed and there will be no garbage service on these days. For more information on the City of Ada, visit our Web site at www.adaok.com.

• The annual Ada Area Christmas Lighting Project officially kicks off the holiday season at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 26, in Wintersmith Park. Christmas lights will be on display every evening between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day evening on January 1, 2010. Volunteers will occupy a donation booth on the west side of Wintersmith Lake each evening. All donations collected are used to improve the annual lighting display. • The local Alcoholics Anonymous group meets Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Rd. For more information, phone Daniel G. at (580) 332-3503.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.



FRIDAY

NOV. 27, 2009

• Al-Anon meets Fridays at 8 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 17th Street and Broadway in Ada.

• Celebrate Recovery meets each Friday at Grace Community Church in Konawa on SH 99. The program is for anyone with hurts, habits or hangups. From 6-7 p.m., a meal is served for $3; group from 7 to 9 p.m. is free. For more information, phone 580-272-3320 or 925-3545.

• Ada American Legion Post 72 sponsors Bingo Saturday nights at 6 and 7:30 p.m. The Post hall is located at 3529 N. Broadway, Ada. Refreshments are available. Proceeds finance veterans and their families, scholarships and Boys and Girls State.

NOV. 29, 2009

• Al-Anon meets Sundays at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ at 820 Stadium Drive in Ada.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.

• Ada Senior Care Center, a non-profit community service agency to help prevent or delay nursing home placement, is open weekdays at the back of First Presbyterian Church on Kings Road. The center is now accepting clients. For more information, hone Donna at 332-2855.

• A Christmas Tour of Homes is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 7, from 5-8 p.m.  Tickets are on sale at Ada Area Chamber of Commerce or by calling East Central University at 559-5873. Tour ticket prices are $10 for the tour only, and $15 for the tour with transportation provided. Refreshments will be served at Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center throughout the evening. Proceeds benefit the children of Ada through Project Invest — a program of ECU’s Child Care Resource & Referral Agency and Smart Start South Central.
