◊ Byng Speech and Drama Booster Club will be selling pies on Main Street beginning at 10 a.m. Proceeds will go toward their trip to New York City.

◊ A dance is held every Wednesday at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.

◊ Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets each Wednesday at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Craddock Road, Ada. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 332-6506.

THANKSGIVING

◊ The local Alcoholics Anonymous group meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. in fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Rd. For more information, phone Daniel G. at (580) 332-3503.

◊ All non-emergency city of Ada offices will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The landfill will be closed and there will be no garbage service .

DEC. 1, 2008

◊ Homer Elementary School, 1400 N. Monte Vista, hosts a Scholastic Book Fair from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. to purchase books for children.

◊ The Board of Education of Ada Public School District 1019 has announced that statutorily qualified individuals interested in running as a candidate for the Office Number Four, Ward One seat on the Ada Board of Education may file to run as a candidate for this seat at the Pontotoc County Election Board between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Dec. 1-3.

◊ The Board of Education of Vanoss Public School District has announced that statutorily qualified individuals interested in running as a candidate for Number Four seat on the Vanoss Board of Education may file to run as a candidate for this seat at the Pontotoc County Election Board between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Dec. 1 through Dec. 3, 2008.

◊ Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11194 meets at 7 p.m. in the second floor music room of Ada Public Library. The meeting is open to all veterans.

◊ Chess Club meets 7 p.m. each Monday evening at First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Road, in the Westminster Fellowship Center. For more information, phone 580-332-3073.

TUESDAY

DEC. 2, 2008

◊ Ardmore’s Downtown Parade of Lights begins at 6 p.m. following the Ardmore Christmas Tree Lighting in Central Park. For more information, phone James Lamey at Ardmore Main Street Authority, 580-226-6246.

◊ “Wings of Hope” conducts a special December meeting at Wintersmith Lodge. There will be a candle lighting remembrance and balloon release.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm. Meetings are available for parents who have experienced the death of a child. RSVP Tammy at 580-332-4400 or 580-332-2842 if planning to attend or need more information.
