Cannons celebrate 50th anniversary

— ALLEN — The family of Charles and Dionna Cannon are hosting a celebration in honor of the couple's 50th wedding anniversary June 27. The come-and-go event takes place at the home of Wayne and Vicki Christian, 7325 E CR 148, Allen, from 2-4 p.m.
Born and raised in the Allen area, Mr. Cannon graduated from Allen class of 1957, while Mrs. Cannon graduated from Gerty class of 1958.
The couple was married June 27, 1959, at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Gerty with Newell Spears officiating.
After the wedding the couple made their home in the Allen area and raised two children, Steven Charles Cannon and Melinda Jean Cannon Gray.
Mr. Cannon was employed with Allen Motor Company from 1958-1969. In 1970, the couple opened Cannon’s Auto Service, which served the Allen community for 24 years. Mr. Cannon then went to work for Pontotoc County District 1 until his retirement in 2003.
Mrs. Cannon began working part time for Allen Food Center in 1999 and continued working through March of this year.
The couple attends Happyland Free Will Baptist Church and Mrs. Cannon serves as Sunday school superintendent.
The Cannons have two grandchildren, Tara Gray and Tasha Jackson, both of Ada, and three great-grandchildren, Natalia, Isaiah, and Jeremiah Jackson.
