Cradducks honored on golden anniversary

NORMAN — Charles and Jolene Greenwood Cradduck recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A reception was hosted Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church. Hostesses were daughters Carmen Crick and Cynthia Cooper; sisters Juanita Briggs and Johnita Ferguson, and Goodrich United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Cradduck finished first through eighth grades at Ahloso Grade School southeast of Ada and went to Stonewall High School. The couple met in high school and were married Aug. 22, 1959, in Stonewall Methodist Church, Stonewall, just before school started her senior year.

Mr. Cradduck attended school at Okmulgee Tech in Okmulgee, East Central College in Ada and the University of Oklahoma in Norman where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1966. During high school and college, Charles worked after school and Saturdays as a butcher in Cradduck Grocery Store. In 1960, he worked for a heating/air-conditioning company in Dallas, Texas. He was employed by Tinker Air Force Base for 29 years as an AreoSpace Engineer and Computer Systems Design Analyst. He retired from Tinker in 1995. He is a member of Tri City Gun Club and a retired member of the Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. He enjoys reading, woodworking and builds authentic model cars.

Mrs. Cradduck graduated from Stonewall High School, where she was a member of the basketball team from 1956-1958; attended East Central College and night classes at OU. She worked summers and Saturdays at Bayless Rexall Drug in Ada and later was employed by an insurance company. She worked as a receptionist for several engineering companies and was receptionist for Roberts/Schornick Inc. She retired in 1999. She is a member of Goodrich United Methodist Women, chairperson for the local church bereavement dinners and helps in the kitchen for UMW craft bazaar. She is a member of Altar Guild Committee and enjoys working in her yard, flower gardening, bird watching and reading.

The couple have been members of Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church since 1985 and lived in Norman 46 years. They renewed their wedding vows in 2003 at Goodrich.

Mr. and Mrs. Cradduck have two daughters, Carmen Crick and husband, Rod, of Norman; and Cynthia Cooper and husband, Kenny, Oklahoma City. The couple has five grandchildren, Morgan, Colton and Benton Crick and Casey and Alexis Cooper.
