Despite below freezing temperatures at start time, the CASH4BASS tournament trail was launched recently on Lake Arbuckle.
Some 55 boats were present to fish the chilly waters with a nine-pound lunker anchoring the winning stringer of 20.75 pounds weighed in by Stewart Ryan of Ada and Johnny Babbs from Holdenville. They weighed four fish total and had one over eight pounds to compliment the nine-pound monster.
Second place honors with a 10.31 pound stringer went to the team of Rodney Richards of Ardmore and Eddie Richards of Duncan) which was closely followed by the Duncan pair of Noel Reeves and Marty Kaus with 10.12 pounds.
Dan Bartnicki of Duncan and Mike Lightner of Marlow finished fourth with one fish but it weighed in at almost eight pounds (7.96) and fifth was the team of Red Rutherford of Durant and Joe Copeland of Roff with a 6.84-pound stringer.
A total of 11 teams finished “in the money” and the average weight of each fish weighed in was 3.41 pounds.
John Deel of Lawton and Archie Williams of Rush Springs finished sixth with 5.58 pounds and Tom Gardner of Duncan and Mark Reeves of Hugo were seventh with 4.25 pounds.
The team from Elmer, Oklahoma — Steve Leaf and Grady Allen — came in with 3.56 pounds which was good for eighth place followed closely by the Roff team of Shane Andrews and Jason Adair from Roff at 3.34 pounds.
