ADA — Tinker Federal Credit Union’s branch in Ada is getting an updated look now that construction on a new building is underway.
The new building will be located directly behind the existing branch location at 1620 Lonnie Abbott Blvd.
The current branch is located in a 1,957 square foot modular home that houses three offices, two teller lines and two drive-thru lanes. The new building will be a 5,304 square foot brick building consistent with the modern TFCU look, including a larger Investment Center and Internet Café area.
Features of the new building will include a full-size safe deposit box vault and a member service concierge desk. There will be four teller lines and a canopied, four-lane drive-thru. Other features will include a Kids Center, additional offices and almost triple the parking space of the current building.
Delisa Floyd, Ada branch manager, said a building with a more “permanent” look will draw more attention from the community.
“We were always here to stay, but now people will know we’re here to stay,” she said. “People will take more notice. We are thrilled.”
TFCU’s Ada branch opened in January 2004 and finished that year with 455 members.
The new building is scheduled to open in late 2009. Once the TFCU staff has transferred into the new building, the current building will be removed from the property.
TFCU does not plan to close during regular branch hours during the transition so that Ada members can be served without interruption.
Tinker Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in Oklahoma, with over $1.8 billion in assets and more than 200,000 members.
