  • Morgan: Where has the real Tony Romo gone?
As I was pouring milk over my Captain Crunch this morning, I happened to glance at the side of the milk carton. Lo and behold, there was a picture of Tony Romo. I wasn’t really shocked. I had a strong suspicion that the guy wearing No. 9 was an imposter.

  • Masters of mediocrity
IRVING — A month into this season, the Cowboys have mastered mediocrity.
They’re 2-0 against teams that haven’t won, 0-2 against teams that haven’t lost.

  • Cowboys' D leads the way to 21-7 win over Panthers
ARLINGTON — Terence Newman dove into the end zone, threw the ball into the air and exhaled. The Dallas Cowboys were headed to victory and their maligned defense was the main reason for it.

  • Gloomy times for Cowboys
IRVING — Only two games into a new season and Cowboys linebacker Bradie James already finds himself in an all-too familiar spot.
James was standing at his locker the day after a loss trying to explain what’s going wrong.

  • Cowboys are back to normal
I watched the Cowboys beat Tampa Bay last Sunday, but something just didn’t look right. I’m not sure I could put my finger on it. Something just wasn’t the way it should have been.

  • Jerry’s circus world
Since last Friday night’s Cowboy game, it seems like all I hear about is how high the scoreboard is. I figured that after a couple of days that it would die down. However, this morning, when I got in my car to go home for lunch, I heard Norm Hitzges discussing the monster sitting 90 feet above the playing field.

  • Bronx Bombers even up series
NEW YORK — Jorge Posada hit a three-run homer, Andy Pettitte finally gave New York a quality pitching performance, and the free-swinging Yankees romped to a 9-2 win over the Rangers on Wednesday night.

  • Ex-Tiger Vasquez back at practice for Chargers
Corsicana’s Louis Vasquez was back on the field Tuesday for the San Diego Chargers after a foot injury kept him out of action for nearly two weeks, the team’s official web site, Chargers.com, reported on Tuesday.

  • Romo-to-Williams to get first test vs. Raiders
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Tony Romo and Roy Williams began practicing together in June to kick-start their development as quarterback and No. 1 receiver. The first real progress report comes Thursday night.
