ALLENDALE, Mich. – East Central University’s Zac Pool shot a third-round, 5-over-par 76 on Wednesday and finished at 15-over with a 228 after three rounds of the NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Regional Golf Tournament at The Meadows, a par-71 course.
The junior from Poteau fired a 2-over 73 on Monday and slumped to an 8-over 79 on Tuesday, before closing play with his 76 on Wednesday.
Pool, who began Wednesday’s round on hole No. 10, posted pars on 10 through 18, but later struggled on the front nine with bogeys on No. 2, 6 and 8 along with a double-bogey on No. 5. However, he posted his only birdie of the round on the par-five ninth hole to wrap up play on a bright note.
Pool tied five others for 70th place.
Wayne State’s Steve Cuzzort claimed the individual title after firing a 70 on Wednesday and winning by four strokes. He posted a 67 and 69 to finish with a 7-under three-round score of 206
There were 108 golfers competing in the event.
