ECU’s Lance ties for 10th in PGA Minority Collegiate Golf

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.—East Central University freshman golfer Bryeson Lance shot a 7-over-par 79 and finished in a three-way tie for 10th place at the 23rd PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship Sunday at the par-72 PGA Golf Club.
Lance shot an 81 in the first round and an 82 in the second before following up with the 79 to finish at 235 (26-over for the three rounds combined).
Dustin Thompson, of the University of North Carolina, won the event with an even-par 216 for the three rounds (72-73-71). Christian Heavens, of Georgetown University, was two strokes back at 218 (-3-76-69).
Only two NCAA Division II golfers—both from Incarnate Word—finished ahead of Lance.
At Sulphur High School, Lance finished in the top 10 in the state tournament all four years and had one third-place finish. He is a four-time Native American national champion and has placed eighth in the Texas/Oklahoma Junior Amateur. He also recorded a hole-in-one at age 10.
