Kudos May 16, 2008

Congratulations to the All-Star athletes who participated in the area All-Star basketball game Wednesday night.

Kudos to the Calvin School alumnus who pledged to match funds up to $250,000. Congrats also goes to Sierra Barnhart and Jerred Turner who were the first recipients of a scholarship from the funds.

Great job to KFC for opening so quickly after the drive in incident damaged the building. Many area residents are excited to have the Colonel's secret blend of herbs and spices back on their menus.

A congrats goes to the many teachers who were named teachers of the year of their respective schools.

Kudos to Valley View Regional Hospital for going tobacco free. Tobacco products are no longer allowed on the property. Previously, smokers could go 50 feet from the door. Now, smoking is not allowed at all on the grounds.

Kudos to Pontotoc Technology Center in receiving almost $300,000 for enhancements to the fire training facility. Having well-trained emergency workers benefits any resident.

Thank you to the Busy Hands Quilting Guild who made beautiful handmade quilts to donate to the Red Cross and also to be raffled to benefit Relay for Life.

Kudos also go to 14-year-old Boy Scout James Tillison for pulling people together to help on community projects. Good luck in your pursuit of the Eagle Rank.

Congratulations go to three Ada area teams who earned recognition. Metal Mayhem was honored at the State Senate and Bird Brains and Shadesters earned savings bonds for their efforts in eCYBERMISSION competition.
