OC cross country climbs back in poll

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Christian men's cross country team reentered the NAIA national coaches' poll at No. 20 on Wednesday after falling out the rankings last week.

The men's team raced two weeks ago without Silas Kisorio and Geoffrey Njonjo who raced at the Chile Pepper in Fayetteville, Ark. this past weekend. Kisorio placed sixth overall against stout NCAA division I competition.

This week's ranking brought the Eagles back into the poll to No. 20 after receiving 228 votes. In last week's poll the Eagles received 97 votes leaving them one spot out of the top 25.

The women's and men's cross country teams now prepare for the Mid-States Classic held in Winfield, Kan. this weekend. The meet, hosted by Southwestern College (Kan.), is an important race that will include many quality NAIA schools and is the last chance for the cross country teams to race before the conference meet held in Lubbock, Texas on Friday, Nov. 6.

The women's and men's teams will race their entire teams this weekend after being split over the last two races including the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational and the Chile Pepper in Fayetteville, Ark.
