ADA — Jordi Morgan Lanis, Norman, and Bret Adkins Melton, both of Norman, are engaged to marry in August 2009. The couple will marry on the historic Durango-Silverton Railroad as it travels through the San Juan Mountains from Silverton to Durango in Colorado. A reception and wedding celebration for extended family and friends will be held in Norman, in early September 2009.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. Thomas and Charlee Lanis, Ada. She is the granddaughter of Katherine Lanis, Lombard, Ill., and the late A.R. “Tom” Lanis; Dr. Brison Gooch, Silverton Colo., and the late Dr. Shirley Black Gooch and the late Dr. Charles Herman Black. The bride-to-be graduated from Ada High School in 2002 and in 2006 she graduated with honors, from the University of Oklahoma (microbiology). She is currently pursuing a doctorate in microbiology at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. She is employed as a graduate research assistant at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Parents of the future bridegroom are Stanley and Linda Melton, Norman. He is the grandson of the late Roy and Betty Melton and the late Roger and Perle Clarbour. A 1999 graduate of Norman High School, he is a 2007 graduate of University of Oklahoma (economics). He is employed by Professional Petroleum Landman, Norman.
