ADA — “Hansel and Gretel” will be presented by the Tulsa Opera to area school children in two performances March 30. The performances will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Dorothy I. Summers Theatre. Tickets are $2 for children and $5 for adults and are available at Gem Jewelers, 101 W. Main. The event is sponsored by Ada Arts Council.
This Tulsa Opera performance is an Opera for the Young adaptation of Engelbert Humperdinck’s "Hansel and Gretel."
Celebrating 60 years of Music Worth Seeing, Tulsa Opera’s Kravis Education and Outreach Department is bringing live, professional opera to elementary school audiences. "Hansel and Gretel" is a fully staged production, sung in English and adapted especially for children.
Young audiences become acquainted with the original scores of master composers, set in contexts relevant to kids’ 21st century lives.
Tulsa Opera is proud to offer a production of "Hansel and Gretel" adapted for young audiences by Opera For the Young’s Artistic Director, Diane Garton Edie and Jeffrey Sykes. Students from this area will perform onstage as the Ragamuffin children, Pixies and Gingerbread children.
Members of the Ada Arts Council as well as the public are invited to attend this performance of "Hansel and Gretel." For more information, phone Brenda Gilstrap at 580-235-0193.
