Precepter Delta Phi

ADA — Preceptor Delta Phi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Feb. 12 in the home of Betty Rennke for its regular monthly meeting.

President Juanita True called the meeting to order and members stood for the opening ritual. Lucille Collins called roll and read the minutes of the January meeting in the absence of June Cope, secretary, who is recuperating from a broken hip.

The International Endowment Fund was discussed but tabled until more members could be in attendance.

Juanita Sutton, Sunshine chair, had sent a sympathy card and a yellow rose to sorority sister Marlene Green who had recently lost a loved one. Sutton, representing the chapter, had bought cold cuts, bread, and assorted food items and delivered them to Green’s home.

Beta Sigma Phi City Council representatives True and Jean Erickson reported on Founder’s Day which is scheduled for April 28. The consensus of city council at present is to locate a place large enough to accommodate the four local chapters and to have the food catered. City council representatives have been appointed to secure both a location and caterer.

True reported that Preceptor Delta Phi had nine members present for the Valentine brunch which was held at the Aldridge Hotel Feb. 9. The event was considered the chapter’s social for February.

Bobbye Darbison read from the Gray Book concerning the types of membership in Beta Sigma Phi.

Renneke gave the program which was based on “Buddies: Good for the Body.” Group participation followed with each member relating what sorority means to her. Renneke then passed around “hug” cards. Juanita True concluded the program by reading a humorous poem which she had found in a Chelsea, Okla., newspaper. It was titled “The Flour Sack” and enumerated the many uses that “old-timers” had found for that then everyday item.

Renneke had prepared a sit-down dinner which was served before the meeting to all members.

The meeting was dismissed with all members standing and repeating the closing ritual.

Members present were Lucille Collins, Bobbye Darbison, Jean Erickson, Betty Renneke, Annette Rhoads and Juanita True.
