Mikel and Blood Washed Blues Band perform at jazz festival

— WEWOKA — A new genre of music will be coming to the Cedar Street Blues and Jazz Festival when the award-winning Mikel and the Blood Washed Blues Band perform this year. This event takes place in downtown Wewoka at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27.
Mike and the Blood Washed Blues Band is a blues and Southern rock style Christian group formed in Konawa in 2006. It has four members: Mikel Daggett, songwriter, lead vocals, rhythm and lead guitars, of Konawa; Mikel's wife, Susie Daggett, keyboards, Konawa; Jack Douglas, bass guitar, Konawa; and Jeff Kanard, drums, Wewoka.
The songs included on their CD, "I'm Wanted" are original and written by lead singer Mikel.
