Diamond'K' members attend InterClub meeting with Sulphur

President Juanita Sutton opened the June 17 meeting of Diamond "K" Kiwanis Club with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Corky Wilson led in prayer. Dan Zimmerman introduced the speaker, Nick Carlson, general manager of Bedre’ Chocolates.

The Chickasaw Nation while becoming diversified in their investments have purchased many local well known businesses including Bedre’ Chocolates. The small company founded by Pete Cantrell had built a reputation for fine chocolates. Bedre’ soon outgrew the small building where it originated and is now being manufactured in a Pauls Valley factory.

Sutton read a letter from Garret Thompson asking for a donation toward a college scholarship. The club needed more information on the request and Jim Green volunteered to contact Thompson and invite him to bring his request before the club in person.

Ada Diamond “K” Club voted to donate $100 to the Greater Ada Club for the July 4th Fireworks in the Park.

Members were asked by Bob Ardiana to sign up for work July 4th at the Park.

James Cochran asked for volunteers to help with the cakes for the fish fry. Corky Wilson is breading the fish again this year for the fish fry. He requested early delivery as he will start at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Chursey Fountain delivered tickets for the fish fry as Frank Fountain was unable to attend the meeting due to illness. M.E. Carr reported ticket sales of $1,100.

InnerClub members attending the Sulphur Kiwanis Club were Neal Beasley, M.E. Carr, Andy Hood and Elvin Jaquess.

Eldon Billings was scheduled for surgery this week. Frank Fountain will be having tests at Scott-White.

There were 23 members present and two guests, J. Todd and Nick Carlson. The members were Bob Ardiana, Neal Beasley, Patsy Beasley, Doc Bowen, M.E. Carr, Betty Childers, Glen Childers, James Cochran, Joe Collard, Gene Evans, Morris Gonsoulin, Jim Green, Andy Hood, Joan Hood, Elvin Jaquess, Ron Keltner, Don Meeks, Lu Moehlman, Sharon Myers, Billy Rice, Juanita Sutton, Linda Wells, Corky Wilson, and Dan Zimmerman.
