After 43 years of strictly Southern gospel music at the annual Konawa All-Night Singing, this year the award-winning Blood Washed Blues Band will perform in Veterans Park. The event takes place Saturday, Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m.
The Blood Washed Blues Band is a blues and Southern rock style Christian group formed in Konawa in November 2006. Musicians playing will be Mikel Daggett, songwriter, lead vocals and rhythm guitar, of Konawa; Mike’s wife Susie Daggett, keyboards, Konawa; Jack Douglas, bass guitar, Konawa; Chris Carter, lead guitar, Bowlegs; and James Purdy, drums, Vanoss. The CD titled “I’m Wanted” is innovative and unmistakabley about the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a whole new genre in Christian music.
The Blood Washed Blues Band won the Battle of the Bands over 10 bands at First Night Ada 2008 on New Year’s Eve.
All songs are original and written by the lead singer Mikel and performed by talented, passionate musicians.
