The Rev. Frank and Lil Trent, pastors of Ada Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, recently announced plans to retire. The couple served as senior pastors of Ada Calvary for the past 36 years. Easter Sunday will be their last Sunday at Calvary.
Trent has been a pastor for 47 years. His journey of pastoral duties began in 1961 at Oak Grove Church in Sulphur. Next he and his wife were pastors in Mill Creek becore moving to Ada Calvary 36 years ago.
The Trents have been mentors to many up and coming ministers who have derived from their ministry. While serving under this designated ministry, the Trents oversaw the building of a new auditorium in 1975 and a new activity building in 1991.
Trent has served on the Conference Board of The East Oklahoma Conference (currently named New Horizon's Ministry) for five years. He served as pastoral care pastor for two years, and assistant superintendent for the conference for three years. For the past 12 years, he has served as chaplain for Valley View Hospital. Rev. Trent also retired from OG& E with 38 years of service to the company.
Mrs. Trent served as president and board chairman of the Women's Ministry. She was also director of the nursery program at Ada Calvary for more than 20 years. She has taught from the nursery to teens in The Sunday School Leadership Program. Mrs. Trent retired from East Central University as assistant supervisor of the duplicating office.
Trent has written 65 gospel songs and plays many different instruments which include guitar, steel guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, bass guitar, and piano. In 1976, his family (The Calvary Crusaders) performed in many different settings and recorded a record in 1978.
The Trents have three children. Donna Gustin and husband Martin, Pat Lee and husband Jerry, Keith Trent and wife Trina. The Trents have eight grandchildren. Tim Cornelius and wife Dionne, Jason Lee and wife Rachael, Kent Lee, Katriena Wood and husband Adam, Rachel Westmorland, Noah Trent, Brookelyn Trent, and Lillie Trent. Great grandchildren are Jasie Lee, Hunter Cornelius, Hannah Cornelius, Alex Westmoreland, and Trent Carter.
To honor the Trents, Ada Calvary Church, 930 W. 8th, will host a reception from 2-4 p.m.
