Chaprell not included in closings

According to The Wall Street Journal, closings by Chrysler Corporation have been announced and Ada’s Chaprell Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep is not on the list.

Asked his thoughts on not being forced to close his dealership, Art Chapman, owner of Chaprell Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep in Ada said he received the news with mixed emotions. “There have been lots of friends of mine, good dealers who have had an awful lot of sleepless nights over this,” Chapman said. “I’m sad about the friends of mine who were arbitrarily picked to close. But I’m pleased for our customers and employees because if it had gone the other way I would have felt we had let them down. The new Chrysler will be leaner, faster and better and offer better service,” he said.

Chrysler reportedly studied the sales, location, market share, finances and facilities o each of its dealers to identify the strongest of its 3,200 dealers, The Journal reported.

Dealers received letters Thursday notifying them about whether or not they would be forced to close within 30-60 days. General Motors is expected to complete the same process Friday for 2,600 of its total 6,246 dealerships
