Shawna Russell performs tonight at Shawnee

Nashville, Ten. — Rising Oklahoma star, Shawna Russell, will perform in concert at the Sac and Fox Casino Heartland Amphitheater, 42008 Westech Road, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, tonight at 8 p.m. The event will be free to the public with all ages welcome.

The concert will be Russell’s first major headlining performance in her home area.

In March of this year, Russell released her debut CD, Goddess, which has won critical acclaim for the Okemah native. Predicted to become a major star, she has been praised by Nashville’s top music critic, Robert K. Oermann, and Country Weekly magazine stated, “Her promising debut is contemporary country soaked in the influence of 1970’s country-rock and California pop –it’s a winning fusion.” The Oklahoman newspaper weighed in with “Judging from Shawna Russell’s debut album, Oklahoma likely will be adding another country superstar to its brag book.”

Russell releases her second single to Country radio this week. Entitled “Should’ve Been Born With Wheels,” the song was co-written by Russell and her father, Keith, and her uncle Tim, who also play in her band.

In the past few months, Russell’s first single, “Goddess,” earned significant airplay across the country. Russell visited radio stations in over a dozen states to support the record, winning coveted musical guest spots for herself on the top-rated KBEQ morning talk show in Kansas City - and on Voice of America’s “Border Crossings” show, which broadcasts from Washington, DC, to over 60 countries around the world.
