1-on-1 Joey White

He’s been a part of the Jackson Red Devils baseball team for the past four seasons now and this year he’s challenging his opponents down the line as the Red Devils’ third baseman. When he’s not guarding the corner for the Red Devils he’s giving pitchers a hard time at the plate as he has evolved into one of Jackson’s premier power hitters. With this being said it’s hard to believe that his favorite athlete can’t be found on any diamond, but on a gridiron instead. After jumping ahead in the count 0-2 we thought we could bring some high heat and strike him out, but as he did last week against Greenville he turned on our fastball and took us deep over left center field fence. This week, we go 1–on-1 with the Red Devils’ Joey White.



C.F.: If you could live anywhere other than the United Sates, where would it be? Why?

Europe because of the scenery and historical sites.

What is your favorite song, and movie?

My favorite song is “Disappear” by Metallica and my favorite movie is Gladiator.

Who is your favorite athlete?

Brett Favre.

If you could date any celebrity who would it be?

Gisele Bundchen.

Coke or Pepsi?

Coke.

Ford or Chevy?

Chevy.

Georgia or Georgia Tech?

Georgia. Go Dawgs!

Who is your favorite sports team or franchise?

The Green Bay Packers.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?

One time I was reading to the class with all of my weight leaning on the podium and my hand slipped and my head drilled the podium. Very embarrassing moment.

If a movie were casted about you what actor would best play your part?

Chuck Norris because of the beard.

If you could have any job, what would it be?

I would want Hugh Heffner’s job for the obvious reasons.

What cartoon character would you compare yourself to? Why?

Captain America. For some reason my friends call me that.

Where is your favorite place to eat and what is your favorite dish?

O’Charley’s and the chicken o’ tenders.

What is your greatest athletic achievement?

Hitting a homerun against Greenville last week.

Other than a Wal-Mart, what is something that you would like to see come to Jackson?

A Chick-fil-a so I don’t have to drive to Griffin and McDonough.

If you could compete against any professional athlete, in any sport, who would it be and what would you play?

I would play Brett Favre in a round of golf.

What is your biggest fear?

Getting run over by Kyle’s truck.

What is your favorite and least favorite subject in school?

I love history and I can’t stand science.

Describe your most exciting baseball game of all time?

Last year when we went eight innings against Lamar County in Barnesville. We won 10-5, but it was pretty intense.

Looking back, can you choose a favorite coach who has helped you in your career?

Coach Charlie Biles. He coached me in middle school and for the past two seasons in high school and has taught me a lot about the game of baseball.

What is your favorite television show?

Sportscenter.

What is the best quote or saying that you’ve ever heard and who said it?

“It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.” – unknown.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Married and living a successful life.
