Hello, Butts County - February 15, 2006

You have 11 messages.

“Hello, Butts County. In response to the parent that is saying that they are really surprised that schoolteachers are using profanity – I’ve been battling this since middle school. They are the ones that took the job of teaching our children. Yes, children get on your nerves. But, I don’t use profanity, so I don’t see why the teacher should have the right to use profanity.”

“Hello, Butts County. I’d just like to respond to the person that said we need a Bass Pro Shop here in Jackson. With all us country boys around here, I think we do, too.”

“I would like to ask the Butts County Board of Commissioners how many wrecks an employee is allowed to have and still maintain their job, because I think it’s ridiculous as a citizen paying taxes that I keep paying to replace vehicles for someone who doesn’t drive defensively.”

“Mr. Jones and the Butts County IDA need to understand what IDA means: Industrial Development increases our tax base, not residential housing. Quit trying to sell residential housing and concentrate on industry.”

“When is Butts County going to move into the old Piggly Wiggly building they purchased? And when they do, are they going to have a Dollar General as their neighbor?”

“There ought to be a law: What can we do about the air quality in these nail salons? You see the children of the employees sitting in there waiting for their parents, breathing in what has got to be the worst air in Butts County. What can we do about this?”

“Hello, Butts County. I think that most of our deputies do a fine job, but as for the leadership goes, the saying of even a stopped clock or broken clock is correct twice a day for a couple of seconds – that’s the way it is here: we need a change.”

“I’m calling about the Bible being taught in school. I’m all for the Bible being taught in school. I think our county would be a better place if people knew more about the Bible. And I also feel like if it goes down to the middle school or the grammar school and the high school, then that would be the best way of getting it.”

“When a church closes and ceases to be a church, do the tax assessors reassess that property as just a vacant building, or do they keep their non-exempt status? I just passed another empty church and that’s tax dollars going to waste.”

“This is for the lady that called in about fat people: I might not be pretty, but I can always lose weight. Stick to yourself, and we’ll stick to being fat.”

“NASCAR would be proud of our Sheriff’s officers and the way they can drive. They might just try and hire you. This is the Snowman, checkin’ out.”
