Hello, Butts County - March 15, 2006

“This is a question for someone who works at the athletic department. I was just wondering: are we gonna have to – these businesses here that has softball teams – are we gonna have to go to McDonough to play ball this year? Why can’t ya’ll have a league for us to play?”
“Hi. Why don’t somebody use that drug money that they collecting to fix that road down by the horse trailer. It be disastrous.”
“Yes, I’m a concerned citizen of Butts County. I don’t think they should open a drinking establishment so close to a Christian establishment since the Christian establishment has been here 13 years.”
“They are going to restrict yard sales? I guess next they will restrict how many times we can flush our commodes.”
“Hi. In response to people who get upset at dogs for using their yards as bathrooms, this happens to us too, but we understand something. Please understand it’s not intentional on the part of the owner. Often a dog is gonna do that even if he just went to the bathroom at his own house simply to mark territory. Usually it’s where another dog lives or another dog has visited. Those of us who are responsible do clean up after our pets. But please understand it’s not personal, it’s just a dog being a dog.”
“I would just like to say thank you for giving that girl cash money for her birthday. It really supports our habits.”
“Hello, Butts County. I’m calling in regards to limiting the yard sales in the county. It sounds to me like someone has a personal vendetta against the man on Keys Ferry Road. I don’t know the man. I don’t ever stop there. But I don’t see what it hurts. This could be the way he pays his bills, and he always cleans up afterward and he doesn’t leave any mess as far as I can see. This is the way a lot of citizens get rid of their old stuff and make money.”
“Hello, Butts County. The two-yard-sales-a-year ordinance is bothersome to me, my family, and I’m sure many others here in Butts. There are people out here that are disabled and have no other means of making money other than to have a yard sale on the weekends and make a couple of dollars. If you own your own property, what’s the bother? What’s next? Will they limit the number of hours of tee vee you can watch in a day? I think they should worry about the real crime in our county, and not so much about the good old country people who are trying to make a dollar.”
“Hello, Butts County. I was just calling in to see if anyone else has heard that the tint on the windows of a car is illegal altogether? I was curious if anyone else has heard this before I tint my windows at all.”
“Hello, Butts County. I wanted to ask my fellow Butts Countians if anyone in the county has been ripped off by one of those generic ear pods.”
“Hello, Butts County. I just wanted everyone to know that it really is darkest before the dawn. Out.”
“I’d like to congratulate the Jackson High School junior varsity baseball team and Coach Houston on an awesome start to the season. Keep up the good work guys.”
“Hello, Butts County. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me why they drained the pond in Pep.”
“This is for people who live on Tussahaw Point. You may love your dogs and your cats, but other people don’t. We don’t like your dogs coming into our yards and digging holes, or using our yards for a public restroom. We don’t like your cats doing the same thing, or walking on the windshields of our cars so we have to wash them off at two or three o’clock in the morning before we go to work. Or coming home at one or two o’clock in the morning, getting out of your car and stepping in dog mess, and then tracking it into the house. Please keep your dogs and cats at home. I’ve asked ya’ll to do this before, but you don’t seem to pay it no attention.”
“I hope when I die I’ll be 90 years old, lying on the beach, and my lover so distraught he has to take a week off of college.”
“Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the house once you get on Old Bethel from 42 it’s a house right there on the right and it has a bale of pine straw right there at their driveway and it has a sign – like a piece of poster board – that says ‘thank you.’ It’s been up there for a month, and I was just wondering if anybody knew what it’s up there for.”
“I just wanted to say thank you for being such a good friend, and always being there for me. Your smiling face just makes my day. You’re the best eye candy. You’re like a ray of sunshine. I will always be there for you also, friends forever and always.”
“Hello, Butts County. I want to know what’s up with Jackson High School track and field. There is no lights on the track. They need new hurdles and new bleachers. I left 13 years ago, and things are still the same. They have money for football, basketball, baseball, et cetera. It seems to me that the school cares more for these other sports. This is a concerned citizen. Hello, Butts county.”
