Flovilla Council approves liquor license

Citizen requests city get serious about clean up

At the monthly meeting of the Flovilla City Council held on December 20, a few issues were discussed, requests were made, and one area restaurant can continue serving beer with its burritos.

That restaurant is Carlos’ Mexican Grill located at Highway 42 in Flovilla, and its beer and wine business license was approved by the council.

Jim Trenton, High Falls resident and President of the Clean Up Butts County Association (C.U.B.A.), addressed the council and provided each council member with a packet explaining the organization’s goals.

“Government plays a vital role for all of us,” said Trenton. “It’s the main ingredient necessary for getting something done.”

C.U.B.A., a young organization, which counts 23 local business partners and 38 citizens as its members, was started by Trenton to increase awareness of excessive littering and code violations of all sorts around the county.

Flovilla Fire Chief Glenn Williams made a request for the city to provide equipment for training purposes, and also told the council that the department had applied for a forestry grant.

Next, the Council discussed plans for the Community Center, and how Flovilla citizens can communicate what they would like to see in the center. The council also adopted all budgets.

The Flovilla City Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.
