Jimmy Bass
Mr. Jimmy Franklin Bass, 62, of the Indian Springs area of Flovilla, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Sylvan Grove Hospital in Jackson.
Mr. Bass was born August 7, 1943 in Spalding County. He was the son of the late Hugh Dorsey Bass and the late Corine Pitts Bass Pelt. He was retired from the William Carter Company as a driver and attended the Chief Cornerstone Church in Flovilla.
Survivors include three sons, Glenn, David and Christopher Bass, all of Indian Springs; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Melinda and J.R. Smith; Peggy and Tom Bostwick; Connie and Bobby Gaddy, all of Griffin; a large number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Franklin Bass were held Sunday, January 8, 2006 from the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Ferrell officiating. The interment followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Zebulon.

Tom Blalock
Mr. Tom W. Blalock, Sr., 64, of Jackson, formerly of Jonesboro, died Sunday, January 8, 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Blalock; son and daughter-in-law, Tom, Jr. and Kathy Blalock of Jonesboro; son, Tim Blalock of West Palm Beach, Florida; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Rose Blalock of Jackson; Danny and Christine Chambless of Stockbridge; Randy Chambless of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Katie Alexa Blalock and T.J. Blalock.
Funeral services for Mr. Tom W. Blalock will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Chapel with Dr. Dean Haun officiating. The interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Preschool Ministry, P.O. Box 773, Jonesboro, GA 30237.

Deborah Hand
Ms. Deborah Kay Hand, 50, of Thomaston, died Friday, January 6, 2006 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough.
Ms. Hand was a 1973 graduate of R. E. Lee High School and was the first female volunteer firefighter in Upson County. She was a 23-year veteran of the Henry County Fire Department and served as a paramedic/firefighter in the Emergency Response Division. She also served for 23 years on the Atlanta Motor Speedway Safety Team. Ms. Hand retired from the Henry County Fire Department in 2004.
Survivors include her daughter, Katie Hand of Thomaston; one sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Terry Bundy of Thomaston; two brothers and sister-in-law, Ken Hand of Thomaston; Keith and Sonya Hand of Thomaston; six nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles.
Graveside services for Ms. Deborah Kay Hand were held Monday, January 09, 2006 at South View Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Barber officiating.

Mrs. James Hunter
Mrs. James E. Hunter, 72, of Jackson, died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin.
Mrs. Hunter was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church in Newton County and was a lifelong member of The 700 Club.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Hunter of Jackson; one daughter, Teena Hunter of Jackson; two sons, Eddie Hunter of Jackson; Jack Hunter of Montgomery, Alabama; eight grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. James E. Hunter were held Tuesday, January 10, 2006 from the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Dr. John Davis officiating. The interment followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hal Kidd
Mr. Hal Douglas Kidd, 75, of Jackson, died Saturday morning, January 7, 2006 at the Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin.
Mr. Kidd was born January 30, 1930 in Elbert County. He was the son of the late Obie Byron and Ruby Pauline Bone Kidd. He was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Chester, South Carolina. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years and a member of the Air Force Association.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Gober Kidd of Jackson; sons, James Ray Kidd of McDonough; Randy Kidd of Mooresville, North Carolina; daughter, Kay Kidd of Jackson; grandchildren, Daniel Dickens, Douglas Kidd, Joseph Kidd, Stephanie Armistead, Tamara Shumaker; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Doyle Kidd and a sister, Wilma Thorton.
Graveside services for Mr. Hal Douglas Kidd were held Monday, January 09, 2006 at the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. LeRoy Sheats officiating.

Adonna Kitchens
Mrs. Adonna Coady Kitchens, 99, formerly of McDonough, died early Sunday morning, January 8, 2006 at Westbury Medical Care Home where she had been a resident.
Mrs. Kitchens was born May 4, 1906 in Butts County. She was the daughter of the late John William and Nancy Jane Dick Coady. She was the wife of the late Marvin Monroe Kitchens who died in 1967. She was employed by the Porterdale Cotton Mill until the 1940’s and was a member of the Porterdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Geneva and Barron Hamlin of Jackson; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and sister, Marion Kitchens and Cora Mae “Boots” Conn.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adonna Coady Kitchens were held Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the graveside in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton County with Rev. Lane Sanders officiating.

Sara Ligon
Mrs. Sara Mills Ligon, 90, of Decatur, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 6, 2006.
Mrs. Ligon was a native of Jenkinsburg. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Ed Ligon on December 2, 2004 and St. John Meacham on November 23, 1970. She was a retired bookkeeper from Southern Bearings and Parts Co. in Atlanta. She was an active member for over 65 years of St. Mark United Methodist Church of Atlanta, where she was also very active in the Senior Citizens Church functions. She loved to play cards with her senior friends. Mrs. Ligon was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Vivian Miller of Stone Mountain; one granddaughter, Tracey Miller of Bethlehem; one grandson, T. J. Miller of Snellville; one sister, Margaret Suddeth of Stone Mountain; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Mills Ligon were held Tuesday, January 10, 2006 in the Chapel of A. S. Turner Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Jimmy Moore and Rev. Larry Burgess officiating. The interment followed in Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta.

Warren Pittman, Sr.
Mr. Warren Hansel Pittman, Sr., 80, of Jackson, died suddenly Monday, January 9, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Pittman was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Johnson Pittman of Jackson; six children, Warren H. Pittman, Jr., of Augusta; Michael Steven Pittman of Monticello; Danny Pittman of Stockbridge; Riita Pickins of Macon; Donnie Pittman of Covington; Fonda Marie Ricter of Cummings; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nellie Brown of Stockbridge; one brother, Marvin Pittman of Tucker; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Warren Hansel Pittman, Sr. will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Sherrell Memorial Chapel. The interment will follow in the Jackson City Cemetery.
