Martha Ellenwood
Mrs. Martha Mathews Ellenwood, 79, of Griffin, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Brightmoor Nursing Center.
Mrs. Ellenwood was born August 26, 1926 in Cuthbert. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Richard Mathews, Sr. and the late Martha Sealy Mathews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Reverend Wilbur Allyn Ellenwood, Sr. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. Mrs. Ellenwood attended Andrew College in Cuthbert. She retired from Westbury Nursing Home. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Griffin.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Julia Ellenwood; Lois and Steve Hall; sons, W.A. Ellenwood, Jr.; Steven Ellenwood; grandsons, Robert Hall, Stephen Hall and Jared Ellenwood; two great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Hays; brother, Thomas Richard Mathews, Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Mathews Ellenwood were held Friday, January 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home with Dr. S. Ed Hoard officiating. The interment followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson.
Conner-Westbury Funeral Home of Griffin was in charge of arrangements.
James Mitchell
Mr. James Roger Mitchell, 62, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006.
Mr. Mitchell was born August 2, 1943 in Cartersville. His father, James Thomas Mitchell, preceded him in death. He was a retired brick mason.
Survivors include his children, Karen Power of Yatesville; Robin DeArmond of Mt. Juliette, Tennessee; Sharon Mitchell of Blairsville; Roger Mitchell of Moreland; Craig Mitchell of Blairsville; Jamie Mitchell of Moreland; mother, Margaret Mitchell of Forsyth; sisters, Ruth Bray of High Falls; Ruby Orr of Senoia; brother, Ricky Mitchell of Forysth; six grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. James Roger Mitchell were held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at High Falls Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Giddens officiating. The burial followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to High Falls Baptist Church “In Memory of James Roger Mitchell”, 4408 High Falls Road, Jackson, GA 30233.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel of Forsyth was in charge of arrangements.
