Marguerite Ellis
Marguerite Ellis, 58, of Griffin, died Friday, February 17, 2006 at Portsbridge Hospice.
Ms. Ellis was born August 5, 1947 in Butts County. She was the daughter of the late Mack and Eloise Ellis.
Survivors include two sons, Adrian Trimier Sims of Jackson; Byron Conley of Griffin; seven sisters, Mattie Kate Hightower; Eva Dickson; Mae Sue Spikes; Pauline Hightower; Addie Jo Smith; Annie Will Jester; Clara Martin; five brothers, Wilbert Ellis; Morris Ellis; Jack Ellis; Willie James Ellis; Walter Mic Ellis; several sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Funeral services for Marguerite Ellis were held Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Griffin with Mark Wurster officiating. The interment followed in the Towaliga County Line Cemetery in Jackson.
Lewis Sims & Son Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
Raymond McCart
Mr. Raymond M. McCart, 70, of McDonough, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Newton Medical Center.
Mr. McCart was born October 22, 1935 in Newton County. He was the son of the late Bruce and Vera Moss McCart. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was retired from General Motors, and was an avid farmer. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Peggy Wright McCart; two sons, Donald and Barry McCart, both of McDonough; five grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah, and Alex McCart; Billy Alongi; Trea Bone; sister, Dorothy Lee Tribble of Tennessee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Betty McCart of McDonough; Jack and Tiny McCart of Jackson; step-mother, Willie Lou McCart of Jackson.
Funeral services for Mr. Raymond M. McCart were held Saturday, February 18, 2006 from Philippi Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Seabolt and Rev. Dee Keith officiating. The interment followed at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Haisten Funeral Home of McDonough was in charge of arrangements.
Lizzie Seymour
Mrs. Lizzie Mae Pritchett Seymour, 98, long-time resident of Griffin and Spalding County, died Saturday morning, February 18, 2006 at Spalding Healthcare.
Mrs. Seymour was born February 24, 1907 in Butts County. She was the daughter of the late James and Alberta Jones Pritchett. She was the wife of the late Walter Seymour who died in 1973. She was a member of the Midway United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Dundee Mills.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Diane Banister of Griffin; Terry Barnes of Williamson; Sherrie Barnes of Greenville, South Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sara Pritchett Maddox of Jackson; several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Carlistia Barnes; sisters and brothers, Lillie Maddox, Fannie Sue Moore, Bennie Pritchett, Travis Pritchett and Robert L. Pritchett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Mae Pritchett Seymour will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Thomas Moon officiating. The interment will be in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Butts County.
