JACKSON Norman Cox

Mr. Norman C. Cox, 77, of Jackson, formally of Morrow, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Cox served in World War II with the Navy. He retired from Eastern Airlines in 1986, after 30 years of dedicated service, and served as president of EARA. He also worked for UPS for seven years. He was a member of Stockbridge Masonic Lodge #691, and the Henry County Moose Family Center #2170 where he was a past Governor and had been awarded the Pilgrim Degree of Merit.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Verna M. Cox, and his dog Cricket; three daughters and sons-in-law, Norma-Jean and David Fickle of Charlotte, North Carolina; Cheryl-Ann and Bob Vaughn of Jackson; Debra-Sue and Will Rippeto of Newnan; seven grandchildren (and their husbands) Sabrina and Jason Gunn of Jackson; Kelli-Jean and Harry Caraway of Locust Grove; Desirree and John Redmond of Fort Drum, NY; Courtney and Jeff Coombe of Mooresville, NC; Stefanie and JT Moore of Grantville; Ashley Fickle of Charlotte, NC; Wesley Rippeto of Newnan; six great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Dini and Tommy Miller of South Bend, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Potthast.

A private viewing for Mr. Norman C. Cox was held Friday, March 17, 2006 for family at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain. A memorial gathering for family and friends was held Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Henry County Moose Family Center. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Moose Charities, P.O. Box 354, McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Norman Cox.

The Cremation Society of Georgia was in charge of arrangements.



Tommy Kitchens

Mr. Thomas L. (Tommy) Kitchens, 74, of Stockbridge, died Sunday night, March 26, 2006 at the Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin.

Mr. Kitchens was born April 19, 1931 in Newton County. He was the son of the late Jesse Kitchens and the late Flora Parker Kitchens. He was a plumber by trade and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Steve Mason of Bradentown, Florida; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Clifford Darnell of Flovilla; Gaynell and Donald Quinn of Atlanta; Ruby Jewell Hill of McDonough; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas L. (Tommy) Kitchens will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Rev. Trenton Swanson officiating. The interment will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery.

The Sherrell, Wilson, Mangham Funeral Home of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.



Rev. Marianne Lingold

Rev. Marianne Frances Maynard Lingold, 67, of Jackson, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the Sylvan Grove Hospital in Jackson.

Rev. Lingold was born October 5, 1938 in Fulton County. She was the daughter of the late James L. Maynard and Clara Anita Mitchell Maynard, who survives. She was an ordained minister and was employed at Truckstop Ministries in Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, William D. Pete Lingold of Jackson; daughter, Darlene Armstead of Covington; two sons, Fred Dempsey Brooks of Covington; Frank Darryl Brooks of North Carolina; stepchildren, Doug Lingold of Jackson; Jenny Lingold Roberts of Tennessee; mother, Clara Anita Maynard of Covington; one sister, Elaines Robertson of Florida; one brother, James B. Maynard of Cummings; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Rev. Marianne Frances Maynard Lingold were held Saturday, March 25, 2006 from the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Burge and Rev. Howard English officiating. The interment followed in the Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Marianne Lingold Fund in care of Truckstop Ministries, 122 Truckstop Way, Jackson, Georgia 30233.

The Sherrell, Wilson, Mangham Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of arrangements.



Sibey Wise

Mrs. Sibey McCoy Wise, 77, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at her residence after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Mrs. Wise was born in Flovilla. She was the daughter of the late James Farris McCoy and Alma Jane Nelson McCoy. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter and Gordon McCoy, and sisters, Alma Worley and Lucy Jane Hicks. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1945. She was a retired Paraprofessional from the Houston County Board of Education and a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Warner Robins.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 56 years, Winfred R. Wise of Warner Robins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna and Tom Cignetti of O’Fallon, Missouri; Leslie and Ken Smith of Bonaire; two brothers and sister-in-law, Lindsey McCoy of Jackson; Melvin and Mary Jane McCoy of Warner Robins; sister, Betty Jean Perdue of Flovilla; grandchildren, Teresa (Matt) Laugeman, Debi Sittner, Lydia Harrison, Kenna Smith; great-grandchildren, Jacob Laugeman, Michael Laugeman, Jordan Sittner, Olivia Sittner, Reagan Harrison; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sibey McCoy Wise were held Sunday, March 19, 2006 in the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial followed in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 300 Lois Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31093 in memory of Mrs. Wise.

Heritage Memorial Funeral Home of Warner Robins was in charge of arrangements.
