OPINIONS

Our thoughts, your thoughts, and their thoughts on everything from Butts County and beyond.

Register for what you know (and like)

In the end - and nearly the end of the aforementioned saleslady - we registered. It’s official now, we’re getting married. In September, by the way.....more>>

  • All politics are local
After listening to the State of the Union address last week, it’s apparent that the administration’s take on O’Neil’s saying is “all politics is global.”

  • Thank God for friends
The past three weeks have been rather challenging for our families on my wife’s side and my side.

  • Natural gas tax cut, voter ID passed
This is proving to be quite an active year for legislators. We have passed two high profile bills that we have seen the Governor sign into law. The first is the natural gas tax cut bill and the second the voter ID bill.

  • Aladdin, Jr. gets four thumbs up!
Aladdin, Jr. actually featured song and dance numbers complete with several children singing and a dozen or more dancing around the stage. Back in my elementary school career, we just stood on stage as a class and butchered songs, with stilted dialogue in between.

  • How to open the door
Doors are sometimes fiendishly temperamental; other times staunchly indifferent. Some need a mild bit of muscle poured into that door-opening grip; others a stiff shove with a few colorful words thrown in for good measure.

  • Fixing voter ID law make sense
Voter fraud does happen. It happens in every state. But there is not such an epidemic of it in Georgia that voters should have to seek an ID headquarters and pay to have one made.

  • Get involved, or get lost
On national and state levels, candidates crow about restoring honor or integrity to a specific office, or they talk about keeping us free and safe, or they just point out inconsistencies or flaws in their opponents’ positions.

  • General Assembly underway
The issues that we are going to debate this session are important to our belief in family values and private property rights.

  • Are we confusing our work with our job?
Work is something that fulfills us. Work is something we love to do, not something we do with one eye on the time clock.
