Elliott signs to play at Shorter

Red Devil All-Star will play alongside Pidgeon

Last Wednesday was national signing day for the country’s best high school football players and the Red Devils were proud to report that their senior left tackle, Nick Elliott, took advantage of the day by signing with Shorter College.

Shorter College, located in the upper northwest corner of Georgia in the City of Rome, is an NAIA sanctioned school that just completed its first year of football competition. And according to Elliott, it’s the perfect place to attend.

“It’s a small town with a program that’s going to be very good in the future,” said the 6’5” 265 lineman. “I really like the school and the area it is in.”

Elliott won’t have to worry about being lonely in Rome though. He’ll be reunited with former Red Devil and 2005 Jackson High School graduate Josh Pidgeon.

“It’s going to be fun,” said Elliott when asked about playing on the field with Pidgeon again. “It will be just like old times here in Jackson.”

Elliott looked at many schools including Georgia Southern, West Georgia and Furman before making his decision to attend Shorter last Wednesday.
