World’s largest cruise ship sets sail from FinlandHELSINKI (AP) — The world’s largest cruise liner — the Oasis of the Seas — has set sail for Miami from the Finnish shipyard where it was built.
The 1,200-foot (360-meter) ship has a price tag of almost euro1 billion ($1.5 billion) and was commissioned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. It is due to begin cruises out of Miami in December. The ship has 16 passenger decks with 2,700 cabins and can accommodate 6,300 passengers and 2,100 crew. It has an open-air arena the size of a football field and features a 750-seat theater modeled on an ancient Greek amphitheater, a skating rink and a youth area. Oasis of the Seas left the southwestern port of Turku on Friday. It will stop in the English port of Southampton before sailing to Florida.
