Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Like many people around the world, I love Starbuck’s Coffee, and would love to see Ada continue to be home to our Starbuck’s.  However, there is a local business in Ada that makes organic free trade coffee that is so good it’ll make you cry!

As a new resident of Ada, I have been completely “blown away” by the amazing sandwiches, soups, bread, and coffee served at Mizzola’s Restaurant in the North Arlington Shopping Center.  I feel like I’m dining in Santa Fe, New York City, London or Italy.  Its European flair with fresh “made on the spot” sandwiches and exotic coffee far exceed any chain restaurant or Starbucks in the world.  Their espresso blends will stand out over the milk and unique flavoring yet also be an impressive “straight shot” of Espresso.  Their coffee is reminiscent of an Italian espresso with a bold taste and excellent creme. The same is true of their Mochas, Lattes, and Cappuccinos. And, all the coffee at Mizzola’s is Organic Free Trade Coffee.

Not only is their coffee the best in Ada, it’s coffee that is hearty enough to make cowboys smile.  Mizzola’s hearty dark roast is rumored to float a pistol and keep a cowboy in the saddle from dawn to dusk!

It’s important to me that we see our local businesses be successful.  Mizzola’s was founded to give young entrepreneurs from ECU the opportunity to create excellence in business right here in Ada.  The music is fabulous, the food outrageous, and the service so friendly that you want to adopt the staff.

Let’s get in behind this new local treasure and ensure that we can continue to have this type of unique dining experience right here in Ada, Oklahoma!  Be sure to try the Paradise Coffee Drink while you’re there cheering on these local young entrepreneurs.  Like their motto says, “Thou Shalt Have Fun!”

Dr. Scout Cloud Lee, Ada

Dear Editor,

As a small business person, I was concerned by the Associated Press story saying Congress is abandoning President Obama’s clean energy jobs campaign promises. We need clean energy jobs to rebuild our economy—locally and nationally.

The current bill wouldn’t require any more clean energy than is already in the works. Wind and solar create more than twice as many jobs as coal and oil, so this bill won’t create the new jobs we need in our community.

Even worse, the bill would repeal parts of the Clean Air Act, preventing Obama from cracking down on dirty power plants.

For the sake of our economy, we need our representatives in Congress to fight to fix the energy bill. Congress is voting in less than 10 days.

Jared Euper, Ada

Dear Editor,

Kudos to Mr. Todd McCaskill! He is the new mayor of the city of Roff. He, the city of Roff, the Roff Volunteer Fire Department and others were terrific in their response to the large wind storm which swept through our community Wednesday (June 10) afternoon.

Many limbs and some very large trees were toppled. Their first line of duty was to care for any injuries. Thankfully, there were not any. Next, the need to clear and re-open State Highway 1 (also Main Street) was accomplished. While traffic was re-routed to side streets, large amounts of debris were removed and normal traffic flow was restored.

Next, the side streets were cleared and brush piles were cleared from the curbs. Everything seemed to go quickly, smoothly and without a hitch.

Thank you again for your efficiency.

Tony Folger, Roff
