Letter to the Editor, 9-23-09

Dear Editor,

I respectfully disagree with the publisher’s op-ed in Wednesday’s edition, 9-16-09, regarding the lack of civility by Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina.

Wilson has figuratively been hung out to dry for his “unstatesman like conduct” whence he dared to vocally express his dissent by standing and blurting out “You lie” during President Obama’s recent televised speech on the health care reform bill before a joint session of Congress.

He was referring to Obama’s claim that the bill would prohibit illegal aliens from receiving free health care.

Democrats have blocked every attempt by Republicans to amend the bill to ensure illegal aliens do not receive free health care and to prevent funding abortion with our tax dollars against our will.

They have condescendingly accused anyone who didn’t accept their lie of being a toothless, illiterate racist who can’t read.

Unfortunately the self appointed guardians of objective truth, the MSM, have responded with agreement. Dare anyone should risk being called a racist by questioning Obama’s veracity.

It would seem that civility applies only to the right while viewpoint tolerance applies only to the left.

The only mistake Wilson made was apologizing to Obama afterwards because the truth is: There is nothing in the bill which guarantees that IAs will be identified and thus their eligibility for free health care denied any more than they are now.

This while there is an ongoing policy of obstinate refusal to close our southern border to stop the foreign invasion and exploitation of our social services.

Free health care will ensure that the vast majority of IAs migrates to the voting rolls of the Democratic Party.

The 1,200 page legislative monstrosity known as the health care reform bill is so complex, filled with hidden agendas and political payoffs that its implementation by bureaucrats and interpretation by left leaning activist judges will likely result in something far worse than is presently contemplated.

Despite AARP’s endorsement, if the bill is signed into law, a lack of civility toward older Americans will soon become apparent as bureaucratic controlled affordability is implemented.

Ask any Canadian if you don’t believe that.

As lies go, Obama’s presidency may well be based on one.

Contrary to his campaign promise to be the most transparent president and ethical administration in American history, he remains the most secretive and unknown quantity to ever occupy the office of POTUS.

His administration is staffed with tax evaders and those with a criminal record.

He has made a habit of smearing America and the American people in his speeches to foreign audiences while unprecedentedly bowing to an Islamic Potentate and schmoozing with a radical anti-American dictator, yet his derogatory remarks and poor judgment are never seriously questioned.

Congressman Wilson on the other hand has been held up to ridicule for his ever so brief but accurate public in-house effusing.

Congressman Wilson may, as the publisher opined, be defeated in his reelection bid next year in his home district in South Carolina.

If so, it will be the result of mountains of “civil” lies paid for with mountains of cash provided by a Chicago style corrupt political machine.

So accustomed have we become to lies, half truths and politically correct pabulum that we are easily persuaded we should be shocked by Wilson’s presumed lack of civility when in fact - It is truth that has been slain in America.

Its resurrection and preservation are critical to our future as a free and self governing people.
