Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I am a very proud American citizen who has served in the military briefly and then alongside my husband, following him around the European theater and America for 25 years. Our youngest son joined the Marine Corps.

My uncle served in the Army during Vietnam, and my husband’s family has served in every branch of the military all the way back to the Civil War.

Here’s my situation.

When I was a kid I didn’t care about this country, much like most of our youth of today. I see their lack of pride and concern or even respect for authority, and much less for our great country.

Anyway, my point is this — It wasn’t until I served time in the military and watched my husband traipsing all over the world, helping to bring peace and safety to our country and others that I realized how great a country America is.

Anyway, I want to help others understand what I’ve learned before it’s too late.

I’ve been paying attention to the news lately, and I’m witnessing our freedoms being slowly flushed away, and it appears no one is doing anything about it. I, for one, am not going to sit by and let that happen without a fight. I hope to help others come to the same understanding that I did, and hopefully sooner than I did. You see, its taken me nearly a lifetime to realize just how richly blessed we are and how powerful America is! Our Constitution was written by our forefathers for very good reasons; to protect us from tyranny and to defend us against foreign and domestic enemies.

That means standing up for what we know is right and not rolling over and playing dead or pretending to be stupid and hoping this bad dream will go away. We need to take back our God-given rights and protect them at all cost or we will lose them forever and then be slaves to our own laziness and lack of concern.

So here is what I propose to for all of us to do... Join me and take action to write, call, e-mail or whatever it takes to get involved. Tell your elected representatives to vote against anything that would diminish our constitutional freedoms and rights; tell them to support our military; and tell them to get their hands out of our pockets.

Tell them to support our allies and oppose our enemies. Tell them to stop cowering before our enemies like we’re the ones who don’t know what we’re doing and so on. Please stand and fight like you never fought for anything. Think of it like this...your house is on fire and your child is trapped inside and you and your neighbors band together for a common cause and that is to save the life of the child America! Please stand beside this neighbor…me.

I was very proud to see those take a stand and walk out on the United Nations.

Now if more would do the same to Mr. Obama when he gets up to make speeches against our country, what a statement that would make!

I feel that if things go the way Mr. Obama is leading, we will be unrecognizable as the once proud and majestic United States of America we all grew up in.

Will you get involved or will you remain silent and become just another minion in the kingdom of Obama?
