Letter to the Editor, 10-25-09

Dear Editor,

I’ve noticed lately in my visits to and walks at Wintersmith Park that the CCC-built structure at the south end of the park with the rows of steps is being cleaned up, presumably for use by the community.

I trust that our American freedoms will be honored in the use of this area, i.e., equal access by all, including Christian and church groups.

Also, I would like to see the structure in the lake near the children’s playground returned to its original state, i.e. the metal work at the top removed so that it is used as a small fountain again.

I believe I remember its former appearance correctly. I think metal work like what is on this structure now takes away from the beauty of the park and that structure.

I also thoroughly dislike what was done to the arboretum area several years ago when all that ugly metalwork was erected there.

God made His world beautiful, and I think we are privileged and obligated to do all we can to keep it that way as long as we can.
