DURANT — The Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant will take place at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Montgomery Auditorium on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Six teen contestants and 11 miss contestants will compete for over $14,000 in scholarships and prizes and the opportunity to represent southeastern Oklahoma in the Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant and the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant. Both pageants are sanctioned by the Miss America Organization.
The Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant is open statewide to teen's age 13-17. Those competing are Makella Yockey, Ada; Shyanne McIntire, Bokchito; Leah Myer, Jenks; Cori Emmett, Lawton; Mistral Salas, Lawton and Madison Rittenhouse, Lawton.
Contestants competing in the Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant are between the ages of 17-24 and must attend school or reside south of I-40 and East of I-35. Those competing are Rozalen Doolen, Ada; Allyssa Banks, McAlester; Danielle Butler, Idabel; Tiffany Legg, Duncan; Brooke Smith, Bokchito; Lynsey Wingfield, Calera; Ashley Jernigan, McAlester; Paige Booth, Durant; Monika Killion, Heavener; Tina Aniebok, Oklahoma City; and Brittaney Long, Morris.
Contestants will be judged in private interview, on-stage question, lifestyle and fitness in active wear for teens and swimsuit for miss, talent and evening wear.
The past two years the title of Miss America has been held by Miss Oklahoma. The winner of the Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant will travel to Tulsa in June to compete for the title of Miss Oklahoma and potentially Miss America.
Tickets can be purchased as the door. SOSU students and children 12 and under, $5. Adult tickets are $10 each.
