Jail inmate tests positive for tuberculosis

Randy Mitchell Staff Writer

Ada A man who allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend in February and was arrested only to be released because of a snafu, was re-arrested and has tested positive for tuberculosis.

Jeffrey Scott Standridge, 42, was arrested for the alleged assault and his bail was originally set at $2,500. The bail was later increased to $100,000 after someone at the district attorney’s office spoke with the victim.

Undersheriff Joe Glover said because of a miscommunication, Standridge was released on the original bail. Once the mistake was discovered, Standridge was reportedly re-arrested in Murray County two-hours after being released.

Glover said Standridge is being held in an isolation cell.

“The county health department is aware of it,” Glover said. “They are testing him and we’re trying to take all the appropriate medical procedures and precautionary measures to ensure that our staff or the other inmates don’t become infected with TB.”

On Wednesday, Judge Tom Landrith ordered Standridge to be held without bail until he could be seen by Judge Miller on Monday.
