The death of a Bromide man is being investigated by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Investigations Division.
Johnny Lee Elder, 46, died from internal injuries after being hit by a 1988 Chevrolet pickup driven by Jimmy Carl Green, 36, Bromide, Saturday night according to a report from Trooper Darian Galloway.
Galloway said Green was traveling on Slab Road in an unknown direction. Tire marks showed there were four movements by Green’s vehicle.
Marks visible at the scene showed a reverse movement into a grove of trees on the north side of Slab Road where Elder’s body was found and one reverse movement toward the east with a dynamic 180-degree turn.
Two other tracks showed a forward movement to the east and tire skid marks toward the west.
Galloway said statements made by Green were not consistant with evidence found at the scene and the position Elder was found in.
Galloway said statements made at the scene show Green and Elder were arguing before the incedent. Troopers are investigating to determine the cause of death and which way Green was traveling when the vehicle struck Elder.
Galloway listed the condition of Green as drinking, ability impaired. Elder was taken to Clark’s Funeral Home in Tishomingo.
