A single vehicle accident one-and-a-half miles east of Connerville left one person dead at the scene Tuesday night.
Raymundo Cuella, 29, Byars, was pronounced dead at the scene by Oklahoma State Medical examiner John Miller. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Bill Hutchins said two passengers in Cuella’s Dodge pickup, Antonio Remica, 24, Ada, and Emmanuel Salazar, 19, Mexico, were uninjured.
Cuella was driving east on a county road when he ran off the road to the right, drove down an embankment and hit a tree and rolled one-and-a-half times coming to rest on its side, Hutchins said.
Cuella was partially ejected out of the driver’s side of the pickup. While Cuella was pinned, the pickup caught fire. Firefighters from Connerville and Tishomingo extinguished the blaze. Cuella was removed from the wreckage by firefighters after the fire was extinguished, Hutchins said.
Hutchins listed the cause of the accident and condition of Cuella as driving under the influence. Remica and Salazar were wearing seat belts, but Cuella was not, Hutchins said.
Cuella was taken to Clark’s Funeral Home in Tishomingo.
