Several people were injured in area wrecks over the weekend.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Doug George said Quinn Allen Wykoff, 35, Davis, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup south on a county road seven miles west of Davis when the accident occurred Sunday just after 12 a.m.
Wykoff was traveling at “an extremely high rate of speed,” George said in a report. Wykoff ran a stop sign where the county road ended at State Highway 7 and hit an embankment.
“The vehicle vaulted approximately 110 feet over a fence line,” George said. “The vehicle overturned one-and-a-half times before coming to rest on its top.”
Wykoff and a passenger, Jayme Elizabeth Burnett-Evans, 33, Davis, crawled from the vehicle just before it caught fire. Wykoff was taken by Air-Evac to Norman Regional Hospital and admitted in serious condition with head, internal, external, arm and leg injuries.
Burnett-Evans was taken by Murray County EMS to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore and admitted with head, internal, external, arm and leg injuries. George listed her as stable.
Based on his investigative opinion, George listed the cause of the accident as speeding and said Wykoff’s ability was impaired by drinking.
Another accident occurred in Seminole County on SH 56 near County Road NS 358 at 4:15 p.m. Saturday. OHP Trooper Brad Stuteville said Abraham Davis, 25, Sasakwa, was driving a 1991 Ford Mustang west when he missed a curve and slid off the road.
The Mustang rolled three-and-a-half times. Davis and a passenger, Zackary Collinsworth, 26, Maud, were ejected. Davis was taken by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted with multiple injuries. Stuteville listed him as stable.
Collinsworth was taken by private vehicle to OU Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Another passenger in the vehicle, Emmitt Moore, 21, Ada, was taken by Valley View EMS to Carl Albert Hospital in Ada and treated and released.
Stuteville listed the cause of the accident as unsafe speed on a curve.
