PTC hosting immigration seminar

Ada Oklahoma City labor litigation attorney Bill Wells will be presenting a three-hour survival kit seminar on immigration compliance – including comprehensive coverage of Oklahoma House Bill 1804 -- April 17, 2008, at Pontotoc Technology Center.

Wells, who was a member of the Oklahoma State Chamber negotiating team that met with HB 1804’s authors and other interested parties as the measure made its way through the Oklahoma legislature last year, will be presenting a three-hour program designed to clarify many of the misconceptions about HB 1804, including those regarding compliance and effective dates.

“I organized this three-hour seminar with every Oklahoma business, employer, contractor and governmental entity in mind,” Wells said.

“As part of a thorough review of each and every provision of HB 1804, I will detail the ‘who, when and how’ as it relates to complying with HB 1804.

“I will also be providing a ‘real-time’ update on the current legal challenges and legislative developments surrounding the new law.”

While HB 1804 will be the focus of the seminar, Wells cautions that Oklahoma businesses must continue to comply with federal immigration laws.

In this connection, Wells will also cover the federal government’s recently-revised Form I-9, and will also provide an update on litigation involving the federal government’s “no-match” letter program.

Business owners, HR professionals, educators, state employers, county employers and contractors are encouraged to attend along with interested citizens.

For more information or to register for the free seminar, phone Shirley James at 580-310-2244 or at sjames@pontotoc.com
